Announcement of FOCUS ON EPILEPSY DAY at Defence Geographic Centre (DGC) Feltham.

Date: 26th March 2019

This is an early notification of DEN’s Epilepsy day, so everyone can plan their schedules.

There will be two talks and two discussion and chat forums.

Schedule summary:

Start arriving from 11am to sign in at the gate and collect security passes etc

1.     Open discussion, 11.30  – 12.20,  coffee and casual chat.

Led by the subjects the attendees want to bring up, discuss, ask or get views and experiences on. Open to all DEN members and anyone else with a strong interest or connection or passion to or about epilepsy. Non-DEN members must contact the DEN beforehand and sign the exclusive DEN’s confidentiality agreement. It will be a closed discussion and all spoken within the walls stays within the walls.

2. Talk A: Epilepsy – Diverse People Different Strengths, 13.00 – 14.00.

A talk about epilepsy by two Civil Service employees, Claire Bonney from DGC and Jamie Burton from the Cabinet Office. Open to all DGC staff, and MoD and CS – either with epilepsy, or friends or family, line managers, colleagues or anyone who is interested.

Short break for 10 minutes.

3.     Talk/presentation B: A Focus on First Aid, 14.10 – 15.00.

A talk about epilepsy first aid, as this really is a subject deemed viable for a talk in its own right. . Primarily aimed for first aiders, welfare, health and safety staff, but also for anyone who is interested in the basic – ‘what to do when someone has a seizure’ guidance. There will be lots of time for questions and discussion. This will be similar in content and subject to the presentations I did successfully at Main Building and Navy HQ in May 2018. They were very successful and received good feedback.

Short break for 10 minutes.

4.     Open discussion, 15.10 – 16.00, details as for the morning session.

NOTE: LINK by Conference call FACILITY is now available for all four sessions, if you cannot make it by travelling. Please contact us if you require the dial in code for MoD staff.
