DPF Christmas Message

By DPF Admin17th December 2019February 25th, 2020Circulars, General DPF News

With Christmas fast approaching, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all members of the Defence Police Federation for their hard work over the past year.

It’s been another difficult and challenging 12 months for us all in the Ministry of Defence Police and there has been lots going on.

I’m very proud of how you keep rising to all the challenges put in front of you.

As you know, we are still fighting on the pensions front and our ongoing work as part of the Loughborough Fitness Study is a big part of that.

It’s helping us determine whether we can meet the fitness standards expected of officers in the Force as we get older.

We’ve had brilliant support from officers so far and my thanks to everyone who has taken the time to get involved in the tests across Britain.

We have a couple of age and gender groups for the study that we’d like more volunteers for and it’s really important we fill these if we can.

We’ll be announcing more on this in the New Year alongside some new dates for testing, so please keep an eye on the details to come over the next few weeks and get involved if you can.

With your help, I’m hopeful we can affect the changes we need and that you’ll get the rewards you deserve.

Speaking of rewards, am delighted to say that in 2020 we will also be launching our first ever Defence Police Federation Annual Awards.

The Awards will be highlighting Bravery, Superb Investigations, Excellence in Policing, Lifetime Achievement, and Inspirational Officers within the MoD Police.

It will be a great chance to shout about how great police officers are, so we would encourage all officers to get their thinking caps on and to nominate colleagues who have gone over and above.

And we look forward to celebrating them in June next year.

With a new Government and Parliament, we also have a number of new MPs to get to know and lobby on behalf of our members. As well as returning Parliamentarians.

So a busy 2020 is on the horizon.

Stay safe and a very merry Christmas and prosperous New Year to all DPF members and your families.
