Circular 72/25

Members are advised that as a result of a motion carried at the Annual Conference in November 2024, a new mandate was given to the National Executive Committee with regard to the mechanism by which the amount of annual subscription is determined.

In consequence of this new mandate, the monthly DPF subscription will be increasing from £23.68 to £24.67 per month. This increase will be effective from 1st January 2026 and takes account of the pay award which took effect on 1st September 2025.

The new monthly subscription of £24.67, when calculated to its annual rate of £296.06, represents 1% of the salary on commencing service as a Police Constable in the Ministry of Defence Police (not being a New Entrant from Other Forces). The subscriptions will remain linked to this formula, maintaining the long-established principle of future increases being directly linked to our pay.

Members are reminded that the DPF is totally reliant on membership subscriptions to provide our services. These include, but are not limited to, legal representation if you are faced with criminal proceedings on or off duty, legal representation and advice at misconduct / performance hearings and employment tribunals, assistance with civil and employment related injury claims, welfare and wellbeing advice, assistance with grievance procedures, advice if suffering sexual, racial or other discriminatory behaviour or harassment in the workplace and support with the formal process, UPP, IHR and subsequent appeals.

Members also benefit from full PFOA membership, which is equivalent to £5 per month if they were applying individually.

Members are still able to claim Tax Relief on your subscriptions, at the rate applicable to your tax code, giving you a minimum of 20p in the £ back, thus reducing the overall cost. Please speak to your local Branch Representative or Area Secretary if you require assistance in claiming this tax relief.
