Circular 41/24
Following a very successful Annual Conference, DPF Awards Evening and Training Session held over the period of 20th, 21st and 22nd November 2024, we would like to provide the following update to the membership.
National Vice Chair
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Darren Mitchell of RNAD Coulport has been elected unopposed as the new National Vice Chair. Darren has secured a 5-year term of office which commences immediately. Our congratulations to him.
Elections to the National Executive Committee
We are also pleased to advise that the following Branch Representatives have been elected to serve on the National Executive Committee:
Northern Area
Hilary Jury of RAF Wyton/MDP HQ – elected for a one year term of office.
Raymond Boyle of RNAD Coulport – elected for a two year term of office.
Southern Area
David “Davy” Hutton of RAF Fairford – elected for a two year term of office.
Elections to CASOC
We are also pleased to advise that the following Branch Representatives were elected to serve on CASOC:
Northern Area – Paul Plumb of MDP Raynesway
Southern Area – Darren Collett of MDP Hereford
Items from Annual Conference
Among many decisions made at the 2024 Annual Conference were the following:
- The DPF will begin discussions with the Department and Chief Constable to seek pay parity with BTP and CNC.
- A new mandate was secured for the collection of DPF subscriptions and the mechanism by which they are determined.
- The DPF Death Benefit amount payable following the death of a member in service was increased to £5,000.
- The DPF Death Benefit amount payable following the death of a member within 12 months of their retirement was increased to £2,500.
- Payments available under the DPF Death Benefit to be reviewed at Annual Conference 2027.
- The DPF will cease publication of the DPF Diary following distribution of the 2025 edition.
- The Rules of the DPF will be re-written to make them gender neutral.
- Post holders will also hold gender neutral titles e.g. National Chair, National Vice Chair and Chair of CASOC etc.
- The “Senior Supervisory Grade” group of members has been re-branded as the “Inspecting & Superintending Ranks” (ISR’s) to more accurately reflect their roles.
- With regard to the number of Branch Representatives permissible at any Branch a new formula “the 2024 formula” has been adopted as follows:
1 – 50 members = 1 Branch Representative
51 – 100 members = 2 Branch Representatives
101 – 200 members = 3 Branch Representatives
201 – 300 members = 4 Branch Representatives
301 – 400 members = 5 Branch Representatives
This change is effective immediately.
If any Branch is unsure as to how many members it has, please contact your Area Secretary for clarification.
