Circular 22/18
Pay Rise Update
This circular is to update members on the current position of the pay award, which, as you are all aware, has been protracted.
After several letters and emails between the DPF and the Department, over a lengthy period, with their response of May 2018 informing us of their intentions, with regards the outstanding pay award, agreed sometime ago by the Home Office. The Department stated that it would pay the 1% uplift in pay, the 1% uplift in London weighting and Dog Kenneling allowance. However, the Department stated that they would not pay the additional 1%, as it was defined within the Home Office circular as an allowance. They further stated that with the current financial restraint placed on the MDP, the additional 1% was unaffordable.
The DPF replied to the Department stating that it accepted the rises given, requesting these be paid as soon as possible. However, we fundamentally did not accept their decision to withhold the additional 1%. The DPF were clear that this would need to be consulted prior to any decision being made. The MoD has agreed to a meeting (date still to be set), so that they can proffer why the additional 1% has not been accepted and paid to our members.
Once this meeting has taken place the DPF will update accordingly.
The Force has agreed that the 1% uplift in pay, 1% uplift in London weighting and Dog kennel allowance will be paid in June 2018, with the payments being back dated to September 2017 but have not offered a position in respect of the additional 1%.
