Congratulations to our Defence Police Federation colleague Claire Batt who has today been at Buckingham Palace collecting her MBE.

Receiving the prestigious award from Prince William, Claire has been commended her for her services to Ministry of Defence Policing while in her role as Welfare Officer.

Claire has carried out major work in redefining the welfare service offered by the MDP, and now assists some 2,700 officers and staff with their welfare needs, with a lot of her work helping Officers with disabilities get back to work and to ensure their invaluable skillsets are kept within the MOD.

Claire described the whole thing as ‘humbling’ and said she never would have imagined it would be her to win an award.

Claire said: “It’s so nice to have been recognised for all the work I’ve done over the past five years, it’s taken a lot to get our welfare offering to what it is today.”

“I’d like to thank our Chief Officer Group for their recommendation, and also to the Defence Police Federation, their support throughout it all has been amazing. I really couldn’t have done this without my colleagues. “
