Media Activity: MDP Disciplinary Action

By DPF Admin6th January 2017March 5th, 2024Area Updates, Circulars, Latest News, Northern Updates, Southern Updates

Dear Members,

This circular is to make you aware, an article could be published in the Mail on Sunday this weekend regarding a historic investigation that took place at AWE Burghfield.

We have not yet had sight of the article, but are aware it may be published, having been approached by a journalist for comment. The likely content will be that an investigation took place, and that disciplinary action was taken against MDP officers.

The Federation has submitted a comment in response to the request we received. This highlights our deep concern with how the investigation was conducted, that at no point were officers unable to perform their duties or were materials at risk, and that the investigation was over record keeping and administrative issues. We have also noted that the investigation did not address systemic organisational failings that were significant in this particular issue, and that by acting in a punitive way, the MDP has failed to learn important managerial lessons but targeted individuals instead.

We will of course keep you updated on any further media activity related to the MDP.
