Circular 23/16

16th March 2016

Please see below the letter, received by the DPF yesterday, from the Minister, which clearly states the position of the Government and their stance on our TACOS and Pension issues.

They have stated that they will not give us access to the EEPA section of the bill.  This now opens other avenues for us, including recourse through law – which was not previously available to us, as clearly the negotiation on this has come to an end.

As a result of this letter being received, we are engaging with our legal teams to examine all options and clearly identify the benefits and risks of the choices we have going forward.

We will return to you shortly to identify the position that the National Executive Committee has taken.

I appreciate that this has been a long process but I ask that you give us some more patience, to allow us to evaluate this position fully before we react, as we have always had contingency plans in place for such an outcome and need to examine how best to protect your rights and positions.

We will consider every option and will not avoid difficult decisions to ensure the best outcome for our membership.

Eamon Keating

National Chairman
