PROPOSED PAY FREEZE FOR MDP OFFICERS – MEETING BETWEEN DPF AND FORCE MANAGEMENT

Last week I met with Richard Clancy, from MDP HQ, to discuss the format for the proposed freezing of incremental pay progression that formed part of the agreement on changes to our TACOS.

This applies to any officer, of any rank, who was not on the maximum point of their respective pay scale on 1 April 2016, and who joined the MDP or was promoted prior to 1 April 2014.

This is clearly a complicated issue and we have received several responses, from members on this subject.  As such, we are making representations to the Force and the current position is that the Force management are working on a schedule of all of the officers affected to show how the pay progression freeze will be applied to ensure that we can remove any possibility of individuals being disadvantaged against others.

We are looking to meet again later this month to review this further and I will return to you then with more detail.

I apologise that this is taking such a long time to complete, but it is essential that we ensure members are not held in the freeze for any time longer than is the absolute minimum.
