The PUKDS Mission

The PUKDS mission is to deliver a platform for serving and retired police officers and staff who have either been injured, living with a disability, illness, mental health or neurodiversity to engage in adaptive/disability sport.

The Sports and Events are Fully Inclusive

  • Your injuries do not have to have been life changing.
  • You do not have to be registered disabled.
  • You do not have to have had a serious long-term illness.
  • You do not have to be a wheelchair user.
  • You do not have to have been diagnosed with a mental health condition.
  • You do not have to prove you have been tested for neurodiversity.

Even if you would like to try the sports to help relieve short term stress, you can take part, or just come along so that you know what support is available if you ever need it.

You only need to confirm that you are currently or have previously been a member of any police organisation.

Who Can Take Part?

The entire police community. All 43 Regional UK Home Office Forces across England and Wales, Police Scotland, Police Service of Northern Ireland, The British Transport Police, Civil Nuclear Constabulary, Ministry of Defence Police, Royal Air Force Police

Royal Military Police, Royal Navy Police, and includes Police officers of all ranks, Police Community Support Officers, Special Police Constables of all ranks, Police staff of all grades and all military police ranks.

The Power of Sports Recovery

PUKDS are supporting members already playing and those wanting to play sport in their local community by providing sports equipment through a range of grants and loans schemes. Working alongside local government, disability sports teams, charities, police federations, police disability associations and the community, PUKDS can fund adaptive sports equipment for officers and staff all over the UK.

PUKDS do this by staging national police disability sports events, multi-sport camps and inclusive games, where Police Forces can go head-to-head in team and individual events.

PUKDS will create the first UK Police sports leagues with selection for Home Nations teams with the aim of creating the Home Nations Championships. PUKDS will also create the first Police Disability Sport Team UK, with the intention of creating an International Police Disability Sports Championships in multiple sports.

If you are a police officer or police staff, serving or retired and think you will benefit from sports recovery and need help with equipment, please visit the PUKDS ‘Support’ page to find out how best PUKDS can help with your needs.
