Members will be aware from Circular 40/14 that the current General Secretary (GS) of the Defence Police Federation (DPF) is retiring in December of this year.

We are currently in discussion with the Department and the Force on future Facility Time and DPF representation structure and as such, until we are clear on the future structure and status of the GS position it would be improper to advertise and fill this vacancy, when it arrives.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) have agreed that, until we are able to be clear on the future position and its supporting conditions we will not fill the post.

In the interim, Mr Peter Clout has agreed to take over the administrative role of the GS, to assist the DPF, and will hold the position of Temporary General Secretary (TGS), until we are in a position to advertise the post substantively for applicants from the membership.

Eamon Keating

National Chairman
