The travel insurer under the Defence Police Federation is changing from 1st October 2014. If you are travelling before this date, you will be covered for the duration of your trip under the old ACE travel insurance policy.

The new policy is underwritten by Tokio Marine Europe Insurance Limited and provides comprehensive travel cover. There are differences in the policy wording; however the cover is broadly similar.

This change has occurred as ACE, an American company have withdrawn cover for trips to Cuba due to US Government Sanctions. This was an unacceptable change in policy terms which is why the policy has been moved to another insurer.

The new travel policy wording is available for download from the Defence Police Federation Website or by clicking here. There are new contact details in the event of a claim, so please ensure you travel with the correct policy details.

The Motor Breakdown policy under the scheme has been enhanced to include cover if a breakdown is due to a fault on a towed caravan or trailer. There is also a new benefit should you need assistance due to running out of fuel. Further details are available in the new Scheme Benefits booklets which can be downloaded here.

Subscriptions to the scheme have increased ÂŁ0.45 per month to take into account the rising levels of claims under the scheme.

If you would like to receive paper copies of the insurance documentation, please email enquiries@philipwilliams.co.uk with your name and address, requesting DPF Scheme Documents in the subject field.
