Attached are the initial documents, we received this morning – 6th February 2018 – from the Force on their proposals to alter our shift patterns to one single pattern nationally.
This has been anticipated for some time and this conversation commenced over 18 months ago, however this is the first formal document we have received.
Our National Executive Committee members, alongside our Area Secretaries will be engaging with our membership, across the Force and we will look to keep members informed via this website.
We need all of you to inform us of your concerns and issues with these proposals, but rather than open the website up for comments, would ask that all concerns, regardless of severity, be put through your Branch Representatives locally, to our Area Secretaries and then on to DPF HQ, where a consolidated response can be generated.
We will look, in addition to the above, to run a national ballot on this issue and ask the relevant questions within that ballot. This will be up and running shortly and we will inform you of its existence through every medium we can.
Clearly this will be an extremely emotive issue and one which will affect every member. As such we will ensure that we make the necessary representations to your voices are heard.
Please engage on this and make sure that any and all of your positions are raised, whether in support of these changes or against them. We need to understand everyones position and how this will impact on you as individuals as well as how it will impact on the Force as a whole.
